Shane Lowry Joins Returning Core as Michael Thorbjornsen Earns Official Roster Spot Following Standout 2026 Performances.

BOSTON, MA – Boston Common Golf, a founding team in TGL presented by SoFi, today announced its five-player roster for the 2027 season, featuring Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Shane Lowry.

McIlroy, Bradley and Matsuyama return for Boston Common Golf’s third TGL season, while Thorbjornsen, who was impressive in his appearances for the Ballfrogs as an alternate during the 2026 season, now officially joins the roster. Lowry joins Boston following the club’s recent announcement of his acquisition from The Bay Golf Club in the first trade in TGL history.

The roster reflects the league’s expansion to five players per team for the 2027 season.

“This roster brings together championship experience, emerging talent and a strong connection to New England,” said Mark Lev, President & CEO of Boston Common Golf. “I also want to thank Adam Scott, one of our original Founding Players, for everything he’s contributed to Boston Common Golf. Adam helped establish this team from the very beginning, and we’re incredibly grateful for his commitment and the way he represented Boston. As we look ahead, Michael has earned his place through his impressive play, and Shane gives us even more reason to be excited about this roster. We’re confident in this group and excited for our fans and partners to join us for the season ahead.”

“Representing Boston means a great deal to me, and I’m looking forward to this season with our team,” said Rory McIlroy. “Michael proved himself last year, and Shane brings proven quality and experience in team competition. We have a great group of players, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together this season.”

“Playing for Boston carries a lot of pride for me, and I’m excited about the group we’ll have representing this city,” said Keegan Bradley, Boston Common Golf Founding Member and Team Player. “Michael stepped in last season and showed tremendous confidence when we needed him most. He’s earned his place, and it’s great to have another Massachusetts guy on the roster. Adding a player of Shane’s caliber makes us even stronger. I can’t wait to get back to SoFi Center with these guys and compete for a championship for Boston.”

Lowry brings major championship experience and a strong record in team competition, including his victory alongside McIlroy at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The 2019 Open Champion has represented Europe in three Ryder Cups and joins a Boston roster that combines established champions with one of the game’s rising talents.

“I’m delighted to be joining Boston Common Golf,” said Shane Lowry, Boston Common Golf Team Player. “Rory and I have had some great moments as teammates, and I’m looking forward to competing alongside this whole group. There’s a lot of talent here and a real opportunity to do something special. I can’t wait to get to SoFi Center, contribute to the team and give Boston fans plenty to cheer about this season.”

A Wellesley, Mass., native, Thorbjornsen made an immediate impact as Boston Common Golf’s Designated Alternate in 2026. In his TGL debut against Los Angeles Golf Club on January 2, he made four putts of more than 10 feet, including a 15-foot-9-inch eagle putt on the final hole to clinch Boston’s first TGL victory, a 7–5 win. His move to the official roster strengthens the team’s New England connection alongside Bradley.

"Growing up in Wellesley, the chance to represent Boston means so much to me,” said Michael Thorbjornsen, Boston Common Golf Team Player. “Last season gave me a taste of how exciting it is to compete for this team and have these guys in your corner. I’m ready to build on what we started. I can’t wait to get back out there and help this group compete for a championship.”
